After tearing down the car of all things I'm replacing/upgrading I decided I would tear the 440 down. Bought this 440 from a family member for the swap. After tearing it down because I didn't exactly have faith in the family member who "went through" the engine I found debris and paint chips all in the assembly lube of the cam. Paint chips in the cylinders and nice thick sludge in the pan. Anyway since I'm already taking it all the way down I figured go big or go home when I put it back together. Question is what would be a good build for this 440 for my 64 polara? Worth it to spend the money on a striker kit and bore it out or just put a better cam in and some bolt ons and call it a day? Will be mostly used for driving Sunday's to work and ice cream but will go to the strip a few times a year. I'm sure plenty of people have already asked so I apologize in advance. The cast number is 3698830 if anyone was curious. Thanks

What kind of power are you wanting? 400,500,600,700+? Dont need 700hp to get ice cream but it makes it more fun. If it's all stock you can Always do some work to the heads, cam swap, intake, carb and headers.

I don't really have a set number I'm trying to achieve. Being a 4 door polara I really just want a solid sleeper. Original plan was alum heads, intake, carb, tti headers for the conversion, cutouts, (i work nights and have some nice neighbors) electronic ignition. I guess I should do some more digging to see what setups people have done for a 440 and see what they like.

I guess reliability is more important power for my use but I definitely don't wanna all sound no power.
