Hello, i have a 68 charger SE w a 318 that is bad. Can i swap a 360 into this car without changing rearends and K memebers? I know the 318 is internal balance and 360 is external. Just looking for some advice as to whether or not this will work. Thank you.

The engine will fit, but the motor mount may need to be different, like the 340. and get a 727 transmission, use 360 exhaust manifolds, or find some nice 68-70 340 types. my 68' charger had a 904. The rear end will be fine.

How about the drive shaft? Mine also has a 904 but i will switch to a 727 with a 2500 stall converter. Thanks for the reply.

I'm assuming this is a pre Magnum 360. There's nothing the matter with using the 904. Plenty strong enough (will hold up in high 10 second cars). You will need to modify the left motor mount bracket (see pic). The 360 is externally balanced . Use this flex plate unless you have a factory 360 (pre magnum) converter.

Also the kick down lever for a 2 barrel and a 4 barrel carb is a different length so there will be some minor linkage mods for correct throttle pressure activation, very important. If you do switch to a 727 the drive shaft will need to be shortened aprox 4" and will require a 727 slip yoke.

That's all I ever did on my 318 to 360 swaps....use a spacer on the driver side bracket.

I agree 904's are tough too. If you go to the 727, pay attention which front yoke you get, large U joint or the smaller one. It will matter when you hook the driveshaft up to the rear end. The 318 charger has the smaller of the two. I took a383 two Barrel Chryslerdriveshaft and had it shortened like DVW suggested. I'm now having a 904 built for my Son's 74 Satellite conversion from 318 to the 360, and it is a lot less work for sure. Hey, They are good enough that Chevy guys buy them to drag race with!
