Hello all,

I'm looking for a late 60's B body project to drop my 440 into. I'm not looking to spend a lot and from the shopping I've been doing it looks like I may end up with a 68 or 69 satellite. Many of these are 318 cars. How difficult is it to drop a 440 eng/trans/rear into a 318 car, and what else needs to be done?

Ain't no thang. There are several threads on the subject already. It's easy

I have a '60s B body you can drop that 440 into! Won't cost you a thing. :)
(sorry couldn't help myself)

It's not too difficult to make the swap. Depending on the car itself will dictate your cost. New parts verses used, using a BB "doner" car without an engine in it can save you some bucks. I would think buying a 6 cyl. car for the swap would take a little more doing that a small block car.

I'm just finishing up doing the same thing to a '67 Satellite. K Frame is the same, driveshaft is the same length, car already had an 8 3/4 rear. Motor mount insulators are the same, you just need the brackets from the 440. I'm using the car's original radiator as the car came with AC and a three-core 26" radiator. All in all it's pretty easy, it's just all the little details involved in pulling motors out and putting new ones in that drive you crazy.

Driveshaft will be the same IF a 727 was used in each case. A shaft for a 904 is different

318 to 440 piece of cake.
Don't forget even if you have a 727 TF the bellhousing is different from sb to BB.
