318

Sure! A buddy and I threw a few parts at his 72 Demon and got it running 13.50. It surprised both of us at how easy it was.....

Welcome. My favourite engine, was a Big Block guy but now love the little ones.

there is no replacement for displacement:headbang:
Do you know how to make a small engine think it's bigger? :D Heck, I know many that have 440's and don't run mid 13's.....

Rise of the Poly

Just aquired a factory 4 bbl manifold (from a `62) for my `66 poly 318. Will be going mild...500 or 600 cfm carb, dual exhaust, mild cam...going back into my `66 Belvedere II hardtop. Dare to be different!

guy's; i am with you. small block is a lot more fun. but getting into this for a grin, and , have fun, and, possibly get you money back i will go big block.

Got a big 318 fan here, for sure ! Back in the day, my bread-n-butter car had the reliable 318 in it... and I actually beat my buddy's small-block Corvette in a grudge run ! (yeah, he WAS a lousy driver )... even bread-n-butter ran 14.90's

I used to eat built 350 chevys with my mostly stock poly 318 (and a good reaction time):)

Yep, there is the power of the BB but the 318 is a good little engine, i have one in my Satty thats pretty peppy... I don't know what all was done with it but the cam in it makes it sound as good as it gos..for a SB in a heavy car.

a 318 is a good reliable motor. i wouldn't be scared to drive one anytime. i'm a fan.

Dude, I have hammered on 318's relentlessly since I have been 16!!!! And have never blown one or for that fact never blown any head gasket or any major parts! These things are in my book the most reliable V8 ever made! (forget the chevy guys 350 crap! I have seen too many windowed 350s!)
Ever remember that old oil additive commercial back in the late 80's early 90's
that showed them running the engine with the valve cover off and pouring sand in the engine as it ran? That was a small block Chrysler!! (most likely a 318!) You do know why Chrysler dis-continued the 318? Too reliable!! had to go to that junk (imo) 4.7!!!! (I have done my share of head gaskets on junk engines!!) also have seen too many of the newer 5.7 Hemi's blown due to factory valve seats falling out that are epoxied into head!? (what genius thought of that!!)

Green .. it was a 273.

318 fan here. Great reliable engine. Works excellent with basic ad on's and a small cam.

Never had an unreliable Mopar engine of any size!! The only engine I've never had tho was the 426 Hemi.

I've got a 318 that I put a 600 cfm 4-barrel carb on with headers and an Eddy intake... I FINALLY got it cranked up this weekend. Thought I'd try it with open headers just for fun and it sounded really good. I've really come to love and respect this engine. In my own opinion, the 318 is an great all around dependable engine with good V8 sound. I don't race this car and haven't done a burnout since I was like 19, so for me it supplies all the needs I really have in an good driver/cruiser.

I had a couple and they served me well. How can a true MoPar man not be a fan of a 318!?? The one in my 68 Barracuda used to go through oil and when the lifters started clattering it was time to add  Never quit running.

I saw a 68 Barracuda fast back at the track running mid 12's and I assumed it was a 340. The guy said it was a 318 with 340 heads and a .528" MoPar cam.

I love my 318!

I love my 318, I would keep it in my car if it ran as fast as I want it to :D I must say I beat some cars at the track with it, I think my best time was 14.7 with 2.73 gears non posi, It may be faster because I was running too rich and the valves were tapping...
