Hi,And Merry Christmas, I picked up a 340 bare block for my sons Demon and we noticed that what looks like one of the water ports is blocked off on each side of the head surface. And they added some sort of extra cooling coming out of the block hopefully you guys can tell me if this is normal on the head surface are not. Thanks KB9GIB

Mike if this is on the front part of block it should be ok as the head gasket will block most of it any way to direct the water to back of block then back to the front through the head

Bmo2tj, one is on the drivers side is on the back top. the pass side is on the front top they look to be metal of some sort. Thanks for your information

check with head gasket as some are blocked and only sand casting holes with no mates on head

I have been looking at other 340 blocks on the web was the early made 340 different mode castings. The motor we have was cast in 8/67
