383 backfire

have 1966 satellite 383 4-speed.developed a backfire in passenger side exhaust.actually collapses muffler.car has 4 barrel carb ,high rise intake, and headers.any help would be appreciated

To get rich a fuel mix burning off in the exhaust.

A buildup of unburned fuel vapor in the exhaust will definitely blow the muffler apart. Check things that cause high HC emissions.

Bad coil happened to me same result as passenger side muffler blowing up.

I had a condenser in a point ignition go bad once, same result as bee71.
