Does anyone know if there is a difference between the external casting numbers and dates for 383 or 440 engine blocks between Dodge engines and Plymouth engines. I realize there are internal difference but I am curious about the external casting numbers and dates between the two.

Yes as some years have special engine mount bosses/lugs for 1965 model year and A bodies and then later model accessory mounting.

Here ya go. May not be a full list but atleast its something.

There are no specific differences between a Dodge engine and a Plymouth engine that I know of. During the block casting process, there would no knowledge whether a particular engine block would end up in a Dodge or Plymouth. I do not believe that engines were built for a certain car, but instead were built for an engine bank. Later on in the car assembly process, car VIN was stamped on engine, as particular engine was assigned to a particular car, on 1968 and newer builds.
