383 HP Question

i think im buying a 69 383 hp block and caps out of an A body. it has no crank. will this be hard to find ?

is the crank any different on a 69 383 HP A body 4 speed car then say a b body auto?

You are buying a 383 block possibly stamped HP. A-body, B-body, C-body, E-body, makes no difference, it is a 383 block. If it is just a block, the HP is just a stamping, nothing more. The only difference between the auto vs. standard crank is the pilot bushing area. the Auto crank might not be drilled for the pilot bushing.

Didn't some of the A body B blocks have a special mount tapping?

yes, the A body block has two ears for a different motor mount.

also,
my 68' 383 A body is numbers matching, but Chrysler didn't stamp those engines HP to my knowledge. So if it is stamped and a 69, look for a VIN to see if it isn't really a B body. I'll try to get a picture of mine and post the mounting.

In the first picture the exhaust bolt configuration at #1 looks different or is it just the picture?

yes it's just an extra from the rear where the exhaust manifold is deeper. normally a short stud and nut.
