I have a 383 magnum in my 70 roadrunner and have a few questions

1.) can a 383 mag be a RB

2.) Is possible to add any of the following intakes cross-ram, dual quad<-- now I found dual quad nothing that's dual plane

3.) if you have pick between quads or six pack what would pick and why

4.) I have RPM heads

as always
Thanks

383 and 400 is a low block this is reason for 'B'
440 is a raised block, it is taller, 'RB'

alot of parts are interchangeable though.

IMO and alot of people here would agree, stick with a singel 4 barrel on adual plane intake something like a edelbrock performer rpm

if you want more than 1 carbie i would go a dual quad 500cfm i always hear people having problems with 6 packs so i would tend to stay away from them if you dont really know how to work with them.

Yes, There was a 383 RB engine. It was made from 1958 to 1960 and had a bore of 4.031" and a 3.75" stroke. It was essentially a truck motor.

You can use any assortment of intakes. It all depends on what you want. Most anything is still available some new but most of the old school stuff has to be found used.

"I" would use one four barrel on whatever style intake best fit my build. Why? Because no matter how you tune them, one properly tuned and sized four barrel will run rings around multiple carbs.....however, multiple carbs have the wow factor if that's your thing.

Technically speaking, the 383 magnum designation was not invented when the RB 383 was produced, so no, a 383 mag can't be an RB.

You can get a pretty good variety of intakes for both the low block and high block (B or RB engines). There is a set of aftermarket heads available from Chrysler that allow the use of RB intakes on the B engine.

The six pack and dual quads were both offered from the factory so neither is out of the question. Just need to choose all the engine components correctly.

I'm curious as to how a Dodge engine (Magnum) wound up in a Plymouth?

It didn't. Plymouth's version was called somethin different I think. Commando or Super Commando maybe?

Correct Plymouth had the 335hp which is the SuperCommando and I think the Commando was 290hp Not 100% sure but I think the SuperCommand has 440 heads and 440 cam vs the non magnum 383

Rusty.. thanks for clearing up the 383 RB and B mystery for me that makes perfect sense

Thanks!

Cool thanks.. Since I have a set of RPM heads ready to go on this winter I'll most likely stick to my current set-up or spring for a 6 pack set up.

The heads were the same. There was no 440 specific head.

The 335 HP version did have the same cam and springs as the 440 HP.

In 67 there were 440 specific heads but we are talking 1970 so you are correct.
