Trying to decide......What do yall say? Should I find a 383 or a 440? I dont want to do the whole six pack setup. What are pros and cons of these engines? I am looking for drivability as my 68 satellite is my daily driver. I guess I looking for the best stock setup in one of these engines I can get, durability, not so much worried about horsepower, but when I mash it I want to GO.

Go with the 440. The 440 is a torque monster and works well as a daily driver.

Not much difference in price of rebuilding one against the other. You have a bit more room with a 383 Vs a 440 because it isn't as wide or as tall. Other than that????

If your doing a mild build for a B-body I would go with the 440. Like was said it cost about the same but the 440 will have more torque. Ron

I agree with all above but if you find a good deal on a performance built 383 and stand to save a lot of money don't pass it up. I had my 3700 lb (as raced) 68 RR in the high 12's with a mild 383, deep gears and 8" slicks. Every one thought I had a 440.
