3pt retractable seatbelts ??

I am finally getting around to installing the 3pt belt kit I ordered from classic industries. '68 Coronet, bench seat. I ordered the bench seat kit, cannot understand how they are supposed to go in. Every picture I can find shows the retractor mounted on the floor. It absolutely will not fit between the seat and the mounting hole ! I can get it to bolt in with the seat back tilted forward but then cannot push the seat back upright. Anyone attempt to use this kit ? Good luck. I have seen extensions. Mine interfere with the seats too. Need pics.

This has me worried,I also have a set, but have not installed them. Mine are part # MB173701 for 68-70 bench seat.
I'm not going to install them for a couple of months either, I'll update when I do & share the results.
Classic industries has 2 kinds, I know one needed extensions with a bench seat.

My understanding is that the retractor mounts behind the seat. I did not look super carefully at these belts but mine have an extra mounting point. A fixed end mounts beside the seat that travels up to the roof, where it loops back down to the retractor which also has to mount somewhere in a new location. The latch part of the belt mounts in the center of the car.

In my case, I am hiding it between inner and outer body panels and having the seat belt come up between the inner and upper door panels. I am trying to make it look more "factory" but also trying to hide the retractor.

This is the exact part # that I have, they are the black set. I just posted the red ones because there is no picture of the black. I see nothing about extensions being needed with these !

Heard back from the company, so apparently SOME 68 b-body's had the outboard seatbelt hole more forward than others? Never heard this story before. End result is I will be needed a 6" Extender bracket to move the retractor back just behind the seat.

Got the belts installed today. Made my own extension pieces out of 1/8" steel flat stock. It actually worked out perfect, the new location of the retractor is much better.

I will take some in the morning. If you go to seatbeltsplus.com and go to the hardware section you will see the 6" extenders, I just made 2 of those myself ... and picked up some 7/16x20 nuts/bolts to secure the retractor to the extension pieces.

The extensions will work for me - just the ticket. They will stow easier and be less likely to twist. Don't have your skill, so I will buy some. I don't have the housing at window level. Makes it less noticable.

The belt position in perfect, and the B-pillar / post hides the belt pretty good ! ahh c'mom man, they were simple to make. 1/8" x 1" flat stock, holes are 7/16 and 6" apart from center to center. clean the metal up and prime / paint, easy job !

I thought all '68 B-body's had factory shoulder belts ? ...... I don't recall seeing one without

Actually pretty comfortable, the belt lays across my shoulder just right. They lock pretty easy, any sudden movement forward and they hold you in place. I'm tossing up the idea of getting a set for my swinger.
