I know this is not the original transmission to this car. Its a 4 speed 833, I have determined that much from surfing the net, but I am having a very hard time finding a speedometer cable that will fit the transmission. I have not found any sites that actually decode the number or numbers. The car was originally an automatic, 70 Roadrunner. Here are the casting numbers that I pulled from the transmission. I need to know what the transmission came out of so that I can order the correct cable.

Drivers side of transmission: 095664Z Raised numbers

Passenger side: 98435826 below that: PP8332875 0400 Numbers embeded

Passenger Side Bottom: C89129 and H4 Raised Numbers

Any help at all would be greatly appriciated!

PP833 = New Process Division 4-speed
C89129 = Last 6 digits of the original car's VIN
I believe it came from a 1970 Barracuda or 'Cuda.

Does it have the dual mounts for the shifter mechanism on thr rear housing? I think the 2875 is the date code, june 11 of `69.

Something here seems to be missing. The VIN stamps on tranny's - that I have seen - are in the form of 0E123456. Zero being the model year, E being the LA plant and the rest is being sequence number. I have seen complete VIN's stamped but not too often.

The info is on a machined pad on the pass side of the tranny. If no pad then it's before 1968. The number you show "98435826" looks better. Could the first digit be a letter? Look again. If so then I'd say it's a 1968 model going by the "8".

Is this C89129 number stamped in the case or is it a raised cast in number? I don't believe it is relecting a V.I.N.

Are you trying to buy the cable HOUSING or the cable? The replacement cables come as universals and you cut them to length per the cable housing and then either crimp or melt the end on that goes into the speedo head.

If you need the housing and your car is a 70 RR then the correct housing is for ANY B body with 4 speed (maybe even auto, check your parts book for same number) incuding wagons and 4 doors so it should be easy to find from someone that bought a donor body and doesn't need the part.
