I think that's an Inland shifter. A hurst shifter is much better, IMO

I have Inlands in both my Chargers, works fine with no issues

So, what is actually "sloppy"? The shifter arm itself where it bolts to the shifter linkage? There is supposed to be quite a bit of play there. My Hurst pistol grip wiggles probably 2" in any direction in any gear. The shifter arm is a solid bar, so that ain't got too much slop in it. I like my Hurst and all, but if it were my '68, I'd stick with the Inland shifter since it came that way. Now, if the slop is in the shifter linkage, then maybe these other guys here are right. I think the '69 cars had Hurst linkages with Inland shifters & that would be a piece of cake swap. I don't know much about Inland shifters, but are those three nuts tight? Is there some kind of rubber biscuit or something below those nuts that could wear out? Is there a way for you to add a couple washers or something simple to the connection between the shifter & the linkage to take out some of the slop? Just thinkin'.....

$300 .....maybe I'll get a Hurst mechanism for $195 (w/$25 discount) and look for a pistol grip handle.... ..guessing the rods will work with the Hurst correct ?

No its like a row boat ... have a difficult time finding a gear.. bolts are tight ..you can see the slop is in the plates below the lever ..it moves a good 4 inches while in gear

Plus the install kit for more $$. If it was me I'd be searching the Bay.

The shifter mech itself is sloppy. Inland mechanism do not have spring washers in between shift arms and body like Hurst does. It plays a lot and they make the body difficult to service.

Never have seen the workings of an Inland. My first thought here was what the h*** is that.
Hurst all the way.

I think the install kit includes the rods, levers for the trans and the plate to mount the shifter to the trans. Saw a complete deal with shifter and kit for like 5 hundred. The pistol grip is more $$ yet again. Back in the 90s I had a bunch of shifters and tried to sell the at Pomona cheep, just got laughed at. Just gave them to a buddy. Oh well!
