Ok guys here is my question. I have a 67 Coronet which I bought with front disc brakes (I believe A body brakes) and stock drums in the rear. I am going to go from manual brakes to power brakes and I am going to use grand cherokee rear discs when I make that conversion.

I want to run a stock off the shelf booster and a good master cylinder for this combo. Has anybody got any ideas for a smaller diameter booster (not the kit, I am on a budget here) and master cylinder?

I know I will have some fab to do to make it work, just wanted some ideas from those who have done some swaps.

And please don't suggest I keep the rear drums, its not happening.

This is what I'm planning on doing, I got a hydroboost from a mustang off ebay for cheap, and just going to get a factory p/s pump and just make of have the lines made to connect the two. I was gonna get the rear coversion from summit, but the jeeps cross over to the 8 3/4 and dana housings?

No the jeep axle doesn't direct bolt on, you have to drill out for the 5th hole and modify the bracket some for the bearing cups. I plan to do the work to make it fit. It seemed like a cool project and something not too many people have done. All in all it should take me $100 or so.

I still have to figure out the brake booster and master cylinder though. I want to use engine vacuum to keep it simple.

Okay why not just get a dual diaphram one off ebay and use the stock master or sometimes I've seen a complete one for a reasonable price.

I just looked on ebay not sure what price your looking at but they have one with a master and without and they are 8" dual diaphram around $300 + free shipping

Go ahead and shoot me that link. But that price tag is really no bargain. I can get a complete kit for that full price.

I am hoping to head to a salvage yard, pick up the booster for $30-50 and then go buy a re-man master cylinder for $50-75. That way my total cost of adding power brakes minus my effort would be $80-125 not 300.

I've got to be honest here, my budget just plain sucks, everything is more expensive, kids are expensive, and my salary never seem to increase...it just gets worse.

True the price is the same probaly anywhere, I looked it up on my phone just went to ebay and typed mopar dual diaphram booster. I hear you on kids and having to go to a salvage yard, its where I got my dana 60 with gears and trac lock from a gmc truck. Not sure which cars you could look at for a dual diaphram booster. Hope you find a good one at the salvage yard.

Thanks for the help. My whole project is kind of an exercise in patients, research and resourcefulness. I am doing all of my own work to save money and so far am into my car for around $2500. I have the floors finished up and now need to move to the exterior work and drive train. I did a great job finding a 5.7 hemi, harness and computer with 60k for $750 (I pick that up Friday). Next will be the transmission...depends on what I find. and for the body and trunk stuff I needed I bought a parts car...this way I can sell parts and get what I needed for free. Its the only way I can build this.

That being said, anybody else have a suggestion for the booster?

I'm not hugely familiar with the 67s, but in stock form, do the brake boosters have that funky bellcrank thing going on under the dash? (Recently did a 69 Satty, got confused for a minute with that).

I really couldn't tell you what the power brake booster looks like for the 67 both my 67 and 66 are manual brake setups. But I can tell you this....it stopped like crap
