just seen a commercial this morning about the Las Vegas speedway opening up the 4 wide dragstrip that should be different

I go the Charlotte every year, they have a 4 wide track. You will want GOOD ear protection. When 40,000 horse power kicks in at one time, it is LOUD!! They shake the grandstand, I love it!

Should make for quick racing having 4 cars at one time

Pretty exciting when all 4 actually make it down the track. That's the problem with nitro burners though, usually at least one of them breaks or something goes wrong.

Man-o-man....that doesn't sound good if one of those cars gets squirley

Yep, I was there. Words can't describe how loud these things are, you have to be there. It's an real treat when you take somebody with you that has never been to a Nitro race

They've been doing it for years at the tracks that were set up for it. I've never been to a four lane race but have been to Charlotte. They were only running two lanes with the Pro Mods.

Back in the day, Super Stock and Top Fuel running together!

They can stick the 4 wide crap where the sun don’t shine. It might be great in person but on tv it sucks.

Its ok for one event a year but thats enough for me. IMHO

Bruton Smith saw another chance to line his deep pockets. I agree it is great for spectators and fills the stands, plus the Pros leave on a pro-tree. As a bracket racer, I'm not excited.

I have to say the 4 wides have a lot going on at once and I prefer the old fashion 2 lanes but once a year, it's pretty cool. Charlotte and Bristol are the only 2 close enough for me to go to without spending a small fortune.

Watching it on tv sucks in my opinion. Once you've watched Top fuel in person, there's nothing like being there.

No comparison

I used to help out with a Super Comp team and at the National Events we were in the staging lanes with the Top Fuelers. I would walk up right behind them as they were prepping then watch them leave. Being right behind them when they leave sends some awesome vibrations through your body. I can't imagine what those drivers are going through!

Drag racing is a two car side by side sport. Anything else is bullshit.
Top Fuel man, it's a different world and cool to watch in person but I still prefer the days when 2 guys lined the cars up that they built in their garage and whoever made it down the quarter first won. Same with nascar, it used to be a bunch of good ol boys racing stock cars. Professional racing is no longer a common mans sport, it's a business.

Kinda like Street Outlaws?

I'm not a big fan of it...
I wish we still had all 1/4 mile events
who cares about 1000 ft anyway ?
I'm far more of a purist...

It's not a new thing, just new to recent history
at now 2 of Brunen's facilities...

BUT;
It's Bruden's facility, to do with his, as he will...

Don't like it, than don't go or don't watch...

It doesn't happen in the bracket classes anyway...
Talk about even more boring as hell that'd be,
seeing 4 guys on throttle stops, or 2 steps & bogging off the line
in 8-9 or let alone the 10 second cars that should be
running real Comp. class out the back door, on a national index
@ high 5's - 6's or 7's & 8's - 9's, some slowing down a full second or more,
then braking/dumping people on the other end, whoopee...

NHRA Pro Classes are a joke anymore anyway,
especially the FS1 coverage
In person it is cool, loud as all hell, 40,000+ HP cackling & roaring
it's only the pro-classes anyway, only 2 races a season...
Just another gimmick IMO,
too bad it wasn't 32 car fields, but they can barely get a 16 car fields...

just like T/F Harley, what a joke

to each their own
