So would you prefer a sleeved down 400? Or does it become failure prone?
Absolutely No.
The issue is many good machine shops can install a single sleeve or maybe
two, without geometry issues.
However, I have seldom had any success if every getting a machine shop to replace
the all with issues. We need extremely precise machine work for the class we race,
as ring seal is very critical for us.
It is a fortune to sleeve all eight, try $2,500 to $3500.
You could find 230 cold weather 400 block for a quarter of that.
Beware VERT FEW 230 Blocks are Cold Weather Blocks = The vast majority
are NOT.
We run the absolute fastest and quickest 400 stocker in the country so we
have done a lot of time and research on the 400 combo.
I have been talking to the Poster and he is building a NHRA stocker.
