I went yesterday and looked at an engine that is for sale and what they had is what looks like an industrial engine it has D413 on the machined surface in front of the intake. The water pump is larger than one on a car engine and it connects to the front of the heads. What was something like this used for and is any part of it the same as a car engine.Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

This I believe is a common motor home engine. The top half usually is usually not used in auto's, heads are weird and larger, exhaust is different, water pump is different, but the short block is usable. Should have what looks like a truck pan, but in reverse, so pan is not usable for much either.

I have used the shortblock in a 67 Belvedere. The compression is low (approx 8 to 8.5) and it is a fun driver, but everything lined up OK and bolted up with auto stuff no problems

Big trucks or a motorhome. The biggest problem is getting decent pistons for it because 413 and 426W stuff is pretty limited. If it runs well as is then just swap the top end and drop it in.

Great pic, so a 413 industrial motor with those ugly heads can be replace with 440 heads and intake?
