i have a chance to get a max wedge block, my question to you all is do i have to put a cross ram air intake on to it? i have a 69 rr and was thinking of putting it in there? with it being a 426 are they all the same blocks? its a 1964 block if that helps about all i know as of now.

thank you

No you don't. If you run non max wedge heads on that 426 block you can run a regular RB intake. If you do run the Max Wedge heads you can either run a cross ram or other single carb intake that matches the larger MW ports.

Geez, sounds like my car. I have a 69 RR that's getting a 426W. No, you don't have to put the cross ram on. Any RB intake will work as long as you use the standard big block heads. By the way, I know the cross ram will fit in the 68/69 RR with a 3 speed wiper motor. I ran my 426 as a max wedge in my 68 RR back in the 80's. Just couldn't use the hood, and cutting holes in my RR hood was out of the question, so I just took it off.

There is only one difference between a '64 street wedge and max wedge block. It's the factory valve reliefs in the cylinders. Go here to read more: http://racehemi.maxwedge.com/topics/castings.php

Just pointing that out so you don't pay for an original max wedge block that's actually a street wedge block.

What's strange about my 426W block is it has factory valve reliefs (just like those pics) but a 3/8" pick up and the casting number comes up as a 413/426, though I don't remember exactly the number. There is also no stamp pad info so must be a replacement block.
