Has anybody mic the rear main oil seal journal on a knurl and smooth 440 crankshaft to see if the measurements are the same ?

Did the factory ever make them smooth on a 440?

I've had some welded up and made smooth. The size depends on what the crank shop finishes them. They don't leak.

Have one that is smooth , who ever had it before me probably had welded up and smooth .

Probably smooth for a lip seal. Knurled for a rope seal.

I've use the fel-pro rubber lip seals on knurled cracnks with no leaks.
