Just wondering if it's possible that the markings on my crank are factory?

Fairly sure this is the first OH on this motor.
69 model 440 magnum (block #s say out of a 69 Coronet RT). Block is getting poked .020 in the bores, some of them still measuring standard.

To the crank. Steel, with stamps on front of the front weight R 10 M 10. And (doggone it), mains and rod journals measure .010 under standard. Lol, am I that lucky? (Yeah, I'm kidding.)

For sure, just need a good polish on this one. I'll check my engine book, too, but anyone else seen this? Don't figure a machine shop stamped it, since this is the first time.

Also read on the 69 440s, early/late models had various differences, and parts should not be mixed. Plan to re-use main parts and pieces, but changing to KB pistons.

440 .020 Pistons and rings are hard to find, IMHO I should have gone .030 instead. However I had the block bored .020 in late 80's. When I did the 340 just went straight to .030 to be simple.

Yeah on the bearings, no problem there. Guess I've been spoiled. Every crank I've worked before was standard. Threw me off it being stamped as it is, being undersized, out of a stock motor. Not that it matters, but on the same weight is a dab of green paint. On the rear weight, tan paint. Took some of the rust off (only rusted certain areas), but can't find a part number.
It'll go. At least it's steel.

KB still carries the +20 rings. Far as I know, they don't plan on stopping. Gotta order a set.

I believe undersized journals did come from the factory on occasion. If they noticed a journal had an issue they just turned it down and ran it rather than tossing it. Profitability issue. I believe the block was stamped with a symbol that tells you that, bit your google engine stampings you'll see it.

Thanks! Yeah, I had always thought that, too.

Did some searching, with no results. I'll do more.

Really irritating, since when I first got this motor, busted it down and checked things. Years back did some looking for a better crank, and was told about one some guy had. Lol.
He had taken a standard 6 pak 440 crank, and tossed it in his back yard...to 'season'. They brought it in for me to look at. The in the dirt side of the crank was well rusted. Rubbed one of the journals with 80 grit cloth, just to wipe the rust off. There were pits in that journal a 50 thousands wouldn't clear.
Walking out, I said something about a couple boat anchors.

Last year there was a guy at a swapmeet selling a used cam. He had it lying down on the asphalt, right on the journals. Must've been on sale.

I hear that!

Bang my head on the wall, thinking about some of the parts I've had through the years, now lost in the dust.
