I am looking for a 440 for my 1967 Coronet which currently has a slant 6 engine. There is a 1966 New Yorker that I can get with the original 440 in running order and working auto transmission. What else can I salvage from the car? I will need a 8 3/4 rear axle as well as BB K member and not sure if the New Yorker can also supply this.

Pretty sure the K-member will not work. Too many differences in suspension components between B Body and C Body cars that I noticed in my shop manual when rebuilding my 67 GTX suspension.

Not sure about the rear axle - the track width may be too wide.

Looks to me like you might squeeze it under your wheel wells.
The drum dimension is close.
But the spring perches are too wide.

Spring perch widths (center-to-center)
A BODY ’66-’73: 43″
B BODY ’62-’70: 44″
’71-’74: 47.3″
C BODY ’65-’73: 46″
E BODY ’70-’74: 46″

I have a c body 8 3/4 axle. Had to have the spring perches moved in, other than that its no problem. This is on a 70 roadrunner. I have a 275 tire in there with room to spare. You will want to do measurements because I know my 67 is space challenged in the rear, the 70 has more room for tires.

The '66 NY rear axle assembly is too wide, but you can get the larger brakes and the 8-3/4" 3rd member out of it. There is so little room in the wheel wells on the '67 that that one inch extra per side WILL make it near impossible to get wheels and tires under the car.

The front crossmember is totally different than the '67 B-body and won't swap. Your best bet is to find a '66-'67 V8 B-body K-frame, OR get the motor mount kit from Schumacher that allows you to install the 440 on that Six K-frame.

There are a lot of small bits you can salvage from the New Yorker - nearly anything under the hood that is electrical (except the w/s motor), radiator, and other various fasteners and such.

Sell the parts you don't want over on the C-body forum ( www.forcbodiesonly.com ), especially anything off the dash, if it's all good. Please tell me you are using a four-door as a donor car and NOT a two-door hardtop!

the 8 3/4 will work with a B body housing..you can get motor mounts..schumaker makes them to convert instead of a K frame change...

What condition is the K frame that's in the 67? Are all the parts worn out? Do you plan to drop it out to do any modifications or rebuild it out of the car? If so, now would be a good time to swap it for a V8 K. You don't need a big block unit but just a K for a V8. Get a 1970 or up (up to 72 iirc from a B and any E body will swap in) if you want to use the updated 1970 and up factory sway bar. I know where there is one but I'm sure shipping would be prohibitive. They do show up here and there though. Another option would be to use a motor plate and keep the 6 banger K frame. On the C body rear, you could always cut it down for a custom fit but that would add to the expense with new axles and the cost to narrow it. The C will fit a 68-70 B car better than it will fit the 66-67 cars. Wheel wells in the 66-67 are much narrower than the 68-70 cars so you need to be more careful of what you throw under it.

The k frame is good now but I will swap it for a v8 k. The fact that the k member from the New Yorker won't fit....and not much else, I can just buy the engine and transmission from the car. It will be this fall before I start dismantling the Coronet.
