alright, im pretty new to big blocks so bear with me. I have been looking at the 440 i have and ive seen hemi blocks and they look exactly the same. Is it possible to put Hemi heads on a 440? If so how come they didnt have a 440 hemi back in the day?

The Hemi block upon closer inspection IS quite different than a 440 block. The mains are cross bolted in a Hemi and not on a 440.

The factory never built anything like you are asking about.

Back in the days when the Hemi blocks were not available there was a company that made Hemi heads or a retro fit that would allow them to be used on a 440. However it is cost prohibitive in comparison to just buying the new Hemi engines or even buying a good older original Hemi engine.

There's descrepancies with oil return holes and pushrods, I think there might??? also be something to do with misaligned water jackets.
