Were the Magnum/Super Commando/TNT all the same part number? I've read they are all the same mechanically, but would they have all been pulled from the same "bin" with different air cleaners or did each have unique casting numbers/part numbers?

Given that identical chrysler carbs that had different jetting were given different part numbers, I'm betting that identical engines of different brands had different part numbers as well (for the different air cleaner assemblies).

btw I just bought a car in your area and picked it up friday, near Harrodsburg! Cooked my starter towing it up the hills on 46 through Brown County on the way to Columbus, it was a sketchy trip...

Yeah, I can see that. I've often heard they were identical but I believe the tnt at least was rated different on HP so I was curious about their ultimate identities. I've been on a quest recently to better understand the manufacturing process at the time.

Yeah,Harrodsburg is right up the road! What did you pick up? If you don't mind sharing.

I don't know for sure on the part numbers, was just spitballing.

It was a '71 challenger r/t (base 383). About as rough as one can get before its a parts car, but it was all there and I drove it onto the trailer! You guys have some nice country down there, up here it's all Amish and swamp/flood plains.

Not sure your exact location but I bought a 68 barracuda in Millersburg (up near you I guess) in the mid 2000s. Sold it to pay for bills and been trying to buy it back before I happened onto a 67 gtx project. Still want the barracuda back but I've also been fevering for a wagon.

Anyhow... if it ran that's a good start ahaha! There aren't many Mopar guys in this area and I know most of them. Can't believe I missed that in my own back yard! :) Do you have pics up of it yet?

What part numbers would be different? The ones in the books? Casting numbers would all be the same.....

I was thinking grouped part numbers. Not sure if it's the same but typically there would be a part number for the whole engine (say if a replacement was needed for warranty).

They are all the same except maybe the oil pan and left side exhaust manifold which were C-body specific.
