My 440 was running great with 452 Heads ported and polished with stainless steel valves, but I put 440 Source Heads on and WOW!! I was turning 13.5 to 13.7 @100 before and can't wait to see how much difference I get in both time and speed. I was getting valve float past 4600, but the springs now have 30# more seat pressure and I look for great things. Those Heads are a great value.

Thanks for the info! I've been looking at them. And they are a great value! Some folks have said that while the heads flow well, the hardware [valves, springs, keepers] is felt to be kinda dodgey. If I bought them I would at very least use the cam manufacturers springs.

they are good OOTB, but be careful. A friend of mine put them straight on his 383 and the valve locks failed causing him to lose a piston. That was about 2 years ago after they first came out, maybe they have fixed it, but most guys buy them and put good locks/retainers/springs in them for durability and reliability.

I will let you know about mine shortly. I bought a set for my 440/512 build. Hopefully will be going to the dyno in a couple months. My combo:
Eagle rotating Assy(4.25 stroke, 7.1 rod, BBC rod journal)
950 HP Holley (OOTB)
Weiand Action + 8009
Stealth heads (Comp Cam 929-16 springs, Comp 741-16 retainers, Comp 10 degree locks)
10.5:1-11:1 Compression
Custom Hyd Roller (Comp Cam 230/236 @ .050, Advertised 281/286, Lift with 1.6 is 622/625)
Hoping the combination makes 550-575hp and 625tq+. The heads have been massaged or ported some and the valves backcut. Intake gasket matched and cleaned up in the runners. I think it will be pretty killer from red light to red light. The problem will be hooking my little 66 Satellite to the pavement.

I run the stealth heads on my 440 now stroked to 493 and so far they have been fine we will see what the long haul brings but no issues yet and go good with the RPM eddy too. I did have to grind out some of the area around were the push rod goes to make sure it did not rub, this was info the sales guy at 440source said to do and he was right it would have.

Ill keep the information in mind, I'm currently rebuilding a 440 right now and been looking at parts to replace all the factory parts.

Nice looking build, man. How much camshaft are you running and what kind? Let us know what kind of power it makes. I am working diligently trying to round the last few parts up so we can put my 512 together.

Aren't those just Pro Comp Electronics Chinese heads?

No, Stealth heads are not Pro Comp stuff. You can look at the casting Stealth heads resemble a stock casting externally. Pro Comp heads resemble Eddy heads not factory style heads. Personally, I think the Stealth heads are a good bang for your buck. I looked at it this way I would spend that much money rebuilding a set of cast iron heads with new components. Take some weight off the front end get a better flow and factory appearance, I like. My Stealth heads will be painted turqoise along with the Weiand 8009 intake and topped with unsilenced air cleaner for good measure. Wow it looks like stock 440 but really an aluminum headed 512 under the hood. Just trying to be sneeky.

Just to add, I am having header fitment issues my hooker super comps hit the sides, will have to get some TTI's one day. so if you plan on running headers make sure of the fit.

Thanks, I have not dyno'ed it yet but all numbers point to some were between 535 - 585 hp and 610- 620 ft lbs of torque. Right now it has a eddy 800 avs on top which needs to Chang one day to at least a 1050+ cfm she is starving a bit going upgrade to electric fuel pump very soon.

Just make sure the camshaft manufacturer knows the spring install height for Stealth heads is 1.875. I am pretty sure the install height on factory heads is 1.850. Just one little particular you need to watch out for but not a big deal. I would hate to see you have valve train problems because of something simple.

Those numbers should not be a problem unless you are running a little bitty stick in it. We just finished a 499 for a friends car. We dynoed it and only pulled to 6K and it made 640tq+ at 4900, and 653hp at 5800. Now his combo was a solid roller, Indy SR heads, FAST EFI 3X2 w/Eddy intake, and pump gas. I would definately put some more carb on it. I will be running a 1000 HP or 950 HP Holley on my 512. The 4150 carbs keep the throttle reponse quick for the street.

Yeah X2 good point, I bought the adjustable rod tool for measuring the rod length there would have been no way other to know if you were getting the right size.

I totally understand. You know exactly what length after that process. I will be doing the same thing to mine and ordering .120 wall 3/8 Smith Brothers push rods. Geometry has to be correct or you are looking for heartache.

The 'range' on stock big blocks is 1.830 to 1.890 with 1.880 being common. It's also pretty easy to make an adjustable checker with a spare push rod and always check what the height is before installing them for good.

What did u do for rockers and pushrods? Do u remember the push rod length and size?

Stay away from that junk, a guy brought them in and to make them right was insane
Geez super, did the guy expect seats that don't fall out, and guides that are in SPEC, all from the factory? Lol. Especially when made from high quality Chinese-ium...
