Hi
I'm getting ready to put together a 451 /400 engine and had a few ??? about the crank to ask.
I realize that the 440 crank will need to be turned down to 400 main size and the counterweights need to be cut as well. The question is to what size should I turn the counterweights down to so that 1st will rotate freely and not have to deal with balancing issues and Mallory metal.
I read cut the counterweights .200 which will be 7.280 I also read cut to 7.250 and 440 source says theirs is 7.120
I was also told get the light pistons like diamond or ross to help with the balancing. Are there any others that people used that were easy to balance? Also looking at putting H beam rods.
There have been many motors put together by the board members here and would like some advise on how to do this efficiently. This will be a streetcar with hoping for 9.5 comp limited track use.
Thanks
