Ok guys I found a pretty darn good deal locally. Complete 5.7 Hemi engine, no accessories. Was pulled for having a rod knock.

I can go pick it up but wanted to know if anybody would be interested for $550? If anybody says yes I will make the deal so please let me know!

Engine would be for pick up in the Chicago area or I would ship if you arrange.

A very good deal, have you see it apart?

No I have not. Its about a 3 hour drive for me to go pick it up.

***update***

I called the guy to talk more about its history. He bought the engine 3 months ago from a salvage yard to replace a bad engine. it supposedly had 60k miles on it. He drove it 3k and went to the store one night. Came back out and went to drive home and it made some bad noises and didn't want to stay running.

He has not pulled the engine yet and has not pulled it apart, he tells me it will run only for a few seconds and then die and makes noises from the block.

This is all I know. I have not committed to the purchase so time is off the essence if you want this engine.

LOL sounds nasty... I'd make sure the block isn't compromised and it isn't a main bearing issue before purchasing..

Walk away. Nothing is free, remember Aluminum Bklocks are not so happy with bottom end sounds.

Well I can say you are incorrect. It is a Cast Iron block with aluminum heads. Though I would be very leery now that I have had the conversation. So mostly likely I'll turn it down but if somebody wants it I will go get it.

Thanks bud. I have read so many times guys having a hard time finding them for a decent price so when I come across them I try. This one is starting to look a bit suspect. I have a feeling from his conversation that he dropped a valve from a broken spring and let the piston take it out. That would result in the head being junk and the piston not to mention possible cylinder damage.

But without having a look in the suspect engine I could be way off base. To be honest my purchase price for the engine was $350 but that included me driving a total of 5 hours, gas, and a half a days work to help the guy pull the engine out...really no meat on the bone with my asking price.

I left my conversation with the guy open ended but if anybody wants it I can assist or if you just want to talk to the guy yourself I can provide contact info.

Thanks to all that have looked.
