We have a '76 Doba with a tired 360 LA in it, 500 O/D trans and 355 sure grip. Just bought a 5.9 Magnum motor and thinking of putting it into the Doba. Do we try the fuel inject or do we just put a big ole carb on it ? ? ? What do you all think?

I would just go with a carb. I used to work with a guy that put a magnum engine in his late 40's dodge. He ditched the fuel injection for a carb and was pleased at the low end power it made after that. Besides, dealing with all the computer crap and high pressure fuel system will make a relatively simple swap a major project.

The biggest pain to the EFI is the fuel plumbing. The computer is easy to mount.Everything else is easy dispite the above posts claim.

Now the $$$ end is a catch 22 depending on how you go about it.
The cost Of a proper fuel pump and plumbing vs. the cost of a new intake, carb, throttle cable hardware and gaskets etc…

Yeah, think we are going to go with the carb. We were kinda figuring out the computer side of it but when you add the gas lines to it then it could become a big hassle. Thanks for the replies.

EFI sure is nice...but it depends on the camshaft you want to use as to whether you can go EFI or not. You cannot go too much over stock without tuning issues.

Use the Professional Products Crosswinds intake. All your A/C & everything will bolt up perfect Hughes engines has the cam extension to use your original fuel pump & Bouchillion has the throttle cable bracket & kickdown cable kit for your trans even allows me to use my cruise cable too

Thanks for all the leads, will let you know how we make out as we get more into it.

In as much as the swap itself, I would rather have a 5.9 Magnum NOW than a 340. Better all the way around.
