Hey All,
Making some good progress on my '68 Charger Resto Mod. Paint and Body is complete, now putting it all back together.
Specs: 6.1 Liter Gen III Hemi, 2007 block. Tremec TK500 5 speed Transmission (converted over from automatic), 8 3/4" rear end with 3.73 gearing, stock suspension set up with newly manufactured parts by Firm Feel. Power Disc brakes all around.

Got a question: There is an opening on the rear of the driver's side of the 6.1 Liter and I have not been able to (quickly) figure out what sensor this is. If anyone happens to know and (fingers crossed) has a part number that would be amazing. Thank you all!

Pretty sure that's the blockheater sensor.

Sounds logical to me. Nothing was in that location on my 6.1 and it was not used. Nice job on your build by the way. What dip stick are you using? I like that way better than the Bouchillon unit they sent me back in 2014.

Thank you Rem Charger! Looks like you're exactly right...interesting. Found the part here.

It comes with a standard wall plug....uh...that's a new one for me. Not sure I'd ever actually use this, I'm in CA. and in a place that doesn't get that cold. Not sure I'd ever need this. Interesting.

Thank you again!
Any other input? Am I underestimating the importance of this part?

The block heater is only needed for cold climates, I grew up in ND and every vehicle had one. Vehicles sold in Canada also get them but as you point out you do not need it.

Nice work, its really coming along.

Hey SixPacktoGo - love your build too, looks awesome!

The dipstick is actually the factory dipstick. Because I went with aftermarket valve covers, I had to use a stud, bolts, washers and lock washers to get the factory dipstick in place appropriately and tighten the valve cover down at that point, but I agree, I do like the way it looks. Even better news : The dipstick position worked well with the Headers.

Question in return: What size and type of wheels are you running? I'm still making that decision. I'm thinking 16's all around that has an "originalish" look and stance, but are as wide (especially in the rear) as I can get them in a stock configuration (car is not tubbed or mini-tubbed). I'd like to go for something as close to the photo here as I can get -- but different rim, grey center, steel lip (like yours). Disc brake size is 15" all around - should fit standard configuration wheels (I think?).

Thank you 70 Chall440! And thank you for the help all along the way - your advice has been invaluable. I'm excited that it's getting to a place where I can see the end of the tunnel. I wonder if there is some type of block off plate I can find...probably can't just leave it open? Or can I....

My 5.7 has the same hole, I just left it open.

I wanted mine to look stock for the most part. I am running 15 X 8 Magnum 500's on the rear with 275/60's and 15 X 7 Magnum 500's with 225/70's on the front.

I hate to say it but the original factory dipstick is a POS. I have a 2010 SRT Challenger and the yellow handle broke off and left the stick in the tube. Fortunately, I was able to retrieve the metal from the tube. If you research it you'll find a lot of people have had problems with it. Save a buck and let customer worry about it. I did replace it with another Mopar one for $30 and now I pull it out once a week so I don't have that problem again. I have 15,000 miles on car, so put about 1000 a year, I change oil yearly so really don't have to pull the stick to check oil. I bought car new so I know it's history.
