I'm aware that mom installed these rods in the high performance 440 4 bbl engines in 70 and newer hi po cars in an effort to curb rod failures but only increased the problem because the bolts were not upgraded too but what I'm questioning is the fact that it's been said that they were also used in cop cars, trucks and motor homes. So far, I've never seen any come out of a motor home engine or cop cars but I've never torn down any truck 440's so I can't comment on that. What's the experience here on this?

I have a 72 motorhome motor just LY rods and a 71 cop car 440 with LY rods.I have seen the big rods in industrial motors like dump trucks or cab and chassis stuff.

I recall running across an early 70's motor that had the six pack rods but I don't remember what it was out of.

I have seen the six pack rods in motorhome and truck engines. These engines also had steel cranks. I`m not sure how long they built them but i think i`ve seen them as late as 1973? They may have been available later though. I have some in the shop and can get the numbers off them if anyones interested.

I have a 74 Charger I'm restoring and it's original 440 engine has the six pack rods...there were no HP440s built in 74, but I suppose Ma Mopar was just using up the left over parts remaining on their shelfs to put together their motors. Has anyone else seen this happen?

I have a friend that has a 72 440 from an old tennesse highway patrol car, it has the six pack rods and balancer factory. That engine has been the toughest engine I have ever seen. He even ran a blower on it for several years, with the only a broken rocker shaft.

We have a 1973 440 with the 213 "motor home" cylinder heads in our 1969 Roadrunner that my father pulled out of a wrecked patrol car. It had six pack rods and a steel crank.
