Some help please.

I am looking at a 62 Fury. I am concerned that I only see two round tail lights on each side. The more I look online i see they all seem to have three lights on each side ? I was told that sport fury had three and plain fury had two ?

I am researching it the best i can but I knew someone here would have the answer.

thanks

Two would either be an optioned Savoy or a Belvedere. To the best of my knowledge, the Fury had three lights per side, two red and one clear. The base Savoy came with just the one red brake/turn light but could be special ordered with backup lights. Belvedere came with the back up lights standard - and probably could have been ordered with the third "driving light". The Fury's had all three.

Can someone tell me if this is a two or three tail light order car ?

The seller says it's a Fury..... can you tell me by these #'s what it actually is ?

I've been looking for three years for a place to decode the fender tag on these pre 65 cars with no luck. If you go to this site and enter the VIN it should tell you what model and a bit about the accessories..

Let me know what it tells you .. I'm curious if my understanding of the 62' lights is correct or if there are exceptions..

Here's a stab at the decode, assuming 4th digit of VIN is 1=Lynch Road:

A2 = 225 6cyl
B3 = Torqueflite 6 cyl
J5 = Heater
L3 = Back up lights

1114 = Sched prod date = Nov 14
0444 = Shipping order #

BDY 232 => 2=Plymouth, 3=Fury, 2=1962 (looks like same as 1st 3 digits of VIN

WW = White roof & body

123 => 12=Bench seat, cloth & vinyl, 3=Cordovan (color)

Regarding the three lights vs two, early production may have only received two per side. Sometime later in the year I believe Plymouth added a third light - there was a kit where the dealer could add them as well.

dart1962 is correct on decode L -3 is back up light car.
Main info is 'mid 62 ' ie January -onward, plymouth, and dodge came out with revised trim packages, especially with beltline trim, but also rear lights, ie adding the 3rd taillight for plymouth.

Your November car is 'early'

Interesting deciphering work. where did you guys find this stuff? Here's one to think about. This tag is from my 62 Plymouth Savoy..

Much the same translation for options, mine has two tailights, one red and one clear for backup. Note the date info. Going by the analysis done above on the other tag mine had a scheduled date of June 14, was 5th in sequence but on the BDY info 2=Plymouth, 1=Savoy but 3??? 1963?? The color was a turquoise with grey colored vinyl/cloth bench seats but not sure how it decodes from there?

Regarding the Fury, the BDY of 232 appears to be 23=Plymouth Fury and the 2 isn't the model year but related to the body style

On Stumper's car:

A2=225 6cyl
B3=Torqueflite
C1=Economy AM radio
J5=heater
L3=b/u lamps

0614 = sched prod date (June 14)
213=Plym Savoy
NNB= N is Alabaster, K is Turquoise, B is black roof. Is the N a typo or are the books wrong??? not sure...
104=Bench, cloth & vinyl, Gray

Hi
I have a 62 Fury with original two round (red/white) tail lights on each side.
The Sport Fury was equipped with three tail lights (red/red/white).
