62 Fury converible top rubber trip

Rubber trim not trip... I have a 62 Fury and just media blasted and powder coated the convertible carriage. The trim piece that holds the rubber that sits between the carriage and top of the window frame is rusted beyond repair. I have not been able to find a replacement and I don't believe I will find the original piece. Does anyone have any ideas. Any ideas?
 
I'm having a hard time picturing the part you need to replace. Could you post a photo?
 
The rubber has obviously been removed and the piece has been unscrewed and laid near where it goes. it runs the length of the top so its almost 4 ft long and it holds the front rubber seal. I was told by Joe Suchy they all go bad. Its a bad day when he doesn't know where to find a replacement.

I believe that what you are looking for is a "tacking strip". This product can be found in either a laminated waterproof cardboard strip in 65" length. It can be purchased in several different thickness and width combinations. There is also a flexible plastic style available as well. It is sold in a linear foot and is also available in a variety of thickness and widths.

No not the tack strip. i need the metal rusted piece in the picture that holds the rubber seal. Do they make that piece in plastic now?
 
Sorry that I misunderstood that you are actually looking for the piece under the tack strip. I do not know of anyone carrying this piece and seriously doubt that you will ever find a reproduction. You could possibly find someone to possibly fabricate something close, but that is going to be pricey. Also check with Mike Carter who now owns the Frank Mitchell business. If anyone would have it, then he might surprise you and have it, but expect to pay a premium.
 
In looking at the picture, could you possibly take a piece of glass channel run and modify it to resemble the piece in question. Some of it is flexible and comes in a variety of sizes. Just a thought.
 
It's called retainer folding top header weatherstrip. Part #2251899 .It fits both the 1962 dodge & plymouth ( year only).
As Joey said they are nearly always rusted or damaged badly .Its the first part that see's water and it migrates under the rubber header seal.
You won't find one that is any good anyway.....believe me I've looked. I'm fortunate that I have a nos one that I got from a member a few years ago....I was hoping to reproduce it for others that are in the same position you are in. It's made of 1 piece and the roll forming is complicated.
When I get time I will approach someone to help repo it.

Make sure you keep yours for profile & shape...you could remake one with what you have in the pics.
 
Reviving an old thread but I'm sure I'm not the only one looking.

I just picked up an amazing survivor 65 Coronet 500 vert and the front header bow needs some work along with this header seal retainer. Has anyone had any luck duplicating this part or has anyone found a way to make something else work?!

Pictures would be AMAZING!

i spent 5 years looking for the header seal retainer. As you can see in the pictures it was pretty bad after i soaked in phosphoric acid it was probably about 40% gone. laid some wax paper in the carriage then started to rebuild it with fiberglass and resin. Many thin layers. i would lay it shape it and grind it over and over until i was happy with it. I even had to recreate 6 inches of one side. I think it came out real well but it took alot of time. its very strong now. when i was done i sprayed it
