So I had to recore the rad on my 62 Fury. I also replaced the thermostat. The temperature guage was not giving me a reading. So I replaced the temperature sender on the block. The reading on the dash is about 3/4 when its hot. Is that normal? I am just trying to tell if everything is running good and I am not having a overheating problem. Oh and the motor is the original 361.

Thanks

I used a '65 b-body three core in my '62, and it runs about middle way of the gauge. But it's a 500 inch stroker.

No way of knowing what your stock gauge is telling you without using a "real" temp gauge, or a infra red or laser gun. Then and only then will you know what is happening.

Or run it with the cap off and once the thermostat opens and the coolant is circulating, stick your wife's (or moms) cooking thermometer in there and see what it reads. No offense to the male cooks out there, lol. Just make sure you wash it with soap before you put it back in the drawer.

Haha! I was just going to post that cause I did that yesterday. No guages in yet.

You have to compare it to a known good gauge. It's possible that the little regulator on the back of the instrument cluster is going south.

cool two

Im running a 4 core rad from a 62 cryslr 300 big block, 4-blade fan and a 180 thermo. i have a gauge and a stock gauge when the stock needle gets to about 3/4 way its about 190 on the gauge and it opens drops to about 180 and the stocky goes to the middle. im running a 500 stroker.
