Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and new to mopar. Purchased a 62 savoy from my cousin as a father son project. What is the best site to use for parts. I have already found a full floor pan so I'm good there. And as for the body, it needs firewall/cowl work and a few patches. Also need hood and trunk lid. Need front and back seats and molded carpet. Will post pics of car later. Thanks

Welcome aboard. sounds like a good project. looking forward to the pics. Good luck with the parts search.

There are a lot of mechanical parts that are interchangeable. You can buy new oem style seat covers , glass, suspension, and Because that I own one of these 62 Plymouths, I just happen to make all the fiberglass body parts for this car and many other 62-68 Mopars. If you need some info , just pm me.

seat covers

For a '62? From where?
There is a place in Oregon, I think it is called sms. A lot of the guys on this forum know who they are and have used them. Seat covers and door panels like oem. There work is excellent, but they are a bit slow, but what is said, it is worth it.

AFAIK for seat covers, SMS only supply the material, it is then up to you to find a trimmer that will cut/sew your covers if they have a template or if you can supply your old ones as templates..

I'd be glad to stand corrected...

Great website, but we know you only linked that as your car is Mopar of the month :evil5:

:headbang:

As i am sure you know 62 Dart Convertible these cars are next to impossible to find parts for. Most of the parts I found over the years were through that site and ebay.

Wow, makes me appreciate the one I saw at Cruisin the Coast even better (didn't think that was possible)

I cut the top of my cowl off by drilling the spot welds and cutting just outside the cowl vent. Fabed the lower, pretty simple. Then repaired the top and welded it back on. Plenty of good 4 doors around for parts.

What a great project car! It will keep you busy for awhile bit it`ll be worth it!

Typical rust issues for that model car, I have a 63 Fury, I hope you got an AMD floorpan, hard to beat the quality. They are so bad for rusting in the cowl area which look like from what I can see the hardest thing you need to fix. Carpets, mirrors, door handles, etc are interchangeable 62-65 B bodies. Get your body sheet metal in order and you can find the rest if you are patient.

Nice car, my next project, when I finish my current ones provided I don't go broke first, is to build a cloned Richard Petty 62 or 63 Plymouth race car. Already owning a '63 I have many parts left over so I'm leaning that way, but having watched him run both those year cars in person I think the 62 makes a cool looking stock car also, and I don't need a hemi to make it appear correct..

Thanks guys. Yes it will keep me and the boys busy for awhile. good thing my oldest is collage at Ohio Tech for classic car restoration, and is learning to plug weld, and lots of other cool stuff. Going to fab my own sub frame connectors, Only cuz it's a fraction of what it would cost to buy them already done. Any suggestions on what gauge steel to buy?
