i just got done putting a v8 into my l6 car. i noticed when i tore it apart to start the process, there was a vacuum hose coming from the top of the exhaust manifold through the firewall and attaching to one of the valves on the heater. the odd thing is, it was a rubber hose. now my problem is, i put tube headers on the v8 and don't have anywhere to attach it. i don't understand why it would be attached to the exhaust manifold but there you have it. i know it went there because the fitting was threaded into the manifold on a raised boss. anybody came across this? thanks for any replies. gary

No idea never heard of that,
Could have been in intake,
i know the difference between intake and exhaust. besides, the rubber hose was hard and broke off a good inch above the connection. also, this hose is only about 3/16th in diameter.
thanks for the reply. gary

On my '62, the heater control vacuum comes off of the rear intake manifold vacuum fitting. (361 V8)

now you guys got me doubting myself. the motors long gone to scrap so i can't look at it again, but a big mopar show is coming at the end of oct so i will look at one then. i now most things that need vacuum come off the intake. that's why i couldn't understand this.
thanks for the reply. gary

Gary...it's simply the vacuum 'supply' to the heater switch, yes, a rubber hose.
Depending on intake type, since some do have a vacuum fitting port, some don't. If not, most carbs also have an extra vacuum port, the hose can be hooked to.

There should be a provision in the intake for the fitting that the hose attaches to!
