Hi,,you may read my post ,about my 63 fury(Canadian built)Stock 313 with 4 barrel intake(rare)same as 318 poly but Canada was too cheap to pay the duty of importing US built 318's so reworked their own 301 red ram blocks,but the result was a very dependable engine they sold for many years for different uses around the world,,like Austraila,and Europe for taxi's,police cars,marine engines etc.My Plymouth Fury was bought new in 63 ,driven 10 years ,after the owner passed,it was put in a barn until 2 years ago,then I restored the drive chain(everything that needed replacing after 41 years of not moving)But not touching the great body,and weathered paint.now enjoy driving ,and getting Thumbs-Up from those people that appreciate early 60's MOPAR,Cheers,jim ,will send pics,as soon as this old guy can push the right buttons.

Welcome from another early B-body owner. Drove a 63 Fury in high school many years ago.

Speaking of pushing the buttons get ready for those tranny buttons to be a regular conversation with people looking over your car at the shows. Often older guys with their kids or grandkids get the story from dad or grandpa about them maybe having owned one back when or just remembering them. Mopar did the design and engineering right producing a tough-reliable pushbutton trans unlike Ford did when they made a brief stab at it in 1957. My folks had bought a new '57 Merc and came to hate the buttons and never wanted to own a PB car again. Never could convince them that was a Ford thing until my uncle took my dad and me for a ride in his new '64 Sport Fury showing us their reliability and toughness leaving a good amount of rubber on the road! That convinced me someday I'd have a car like my uncle's even though this would happen decades later.
 
I always remember the Ford Edsel push buttons in the middle of the steering wheel. I actually thought that was a cool design, even if it meant you had no idea where the buttons were when turning a corner.

Hi,Ron,,ya,owned a 63 Plymouth Fury 2dr hardtop for 15 years with push button with 727,built to handle 800hp with lots of good parts and manual valve body,took the shifter apart ,fine tuned it and different cable & ajustment so you only pushed 1/2"and in was fully ingaged,drag raced and hard shifts the whole time and never had a breakdown,and the fastest shifts anyone could make!!!This 4dr fury is stock ,but people at car shows always point to the push button dash first,then the stories start,,,Cheers jim
 
Following the legends in drag racing who preferred the buttons as long as they could have them Dick Landy I think had '64 buttons installed on his '65's after Chrysler dropped the buttons. A couple other drag legends preferred button shift (I'm sure you know all this very well). While back having a related chat another member (can't recall who off hand) sent a nifty clip maybe on utube of his wheel popper '64 Ply inside the cabin camera behind him shifting his tranny off the line at the strip. He relocated the buttons to the right side of dash and looks as though he changed the order of the buttons so he would be shifting away from neutral and reverse. Really cool to watch this clip and see the front end rise up likely off the wheels. Well done!
 
Yeah remember Edsel's PB's on the friggin steering column! Not much thought about safety back then gotta wonder how many accidently struck those buttons like wanting to hit the horn or cranking wheel around elbowing into reverse or out of gear. Pretty difficult to do a run thru the gears too...but then again I don't remember seeing many Edsel's at the strip or cruising my old hometown looking for a run back in the day.
