Hey guys,

Could you guys give a rough value on a complete but basketcase 63 426 MW?

Has original cast exhausts, 3705 carburetors, 286 heads etc etc. I ran one many years ago and I'd like another for my 63.

This is complete from pan to Air cleaners just taken all apart and sitting for years..

I want to be fair with the guy but don't want to pay more than it's worth either.

Other than the 4 bolt valve covers, you can run a 440 with a crossram & MW exhaust.Build it to go 10.o's and not jump through the 9.99 barrier:book1:

Yeah, I was gathering parts for a 440 just when this deal came along. You're right of course and I should continue getting parts for a 440. I used to run a MW in the sixties and it ran
in the low 11's.
Not much now but back then it was really quick.

Guess I was just getting nostalgic. Thanks for bringing me back to my senses!

Is it a 64 MW?You stated it has 3705 carbs. If it's a 63 it should have 3447 carbs! Also the 64 will have 6 bolt valve covers! I would say $6500-$7000 would be a fair price. The block is the tough item to find!correct resto #,everything else you can buy reproduction!

No, it's date coded '63'. My mistake on the carburetors they are 3447 it also has the 286 heads which are Four bolt.
I get confused easily these days.

I'ld buy it if you have the means. How often will a air cleaner to pan maxie with manifolds come along. I would love to have it for nothing else but to say look at this! You might regret not buying it.

This was my plan as well until I happened across a really nice 426sw block for a good price. So I bought it and plan to build it eventually. While it'll cost a bit more to build, I like the idea of having an authentic original 426 block under the cross ram.

Thanks for the information guys, I'm still waiting to hear back from him, I've purchased several
items from him in the past and he is not well so the communication is slow.
I'll likely go ahead and purchase it if I think the price is fair.
In the mean time I'll continue with the 440 project.

There were 63 max wedges built in late 63.....but they're
weren't enough for NHRA to allow you to run that pkg
I believe the build dates were sometime in June
If I remember correctly they had 3705 carbs and 6 bolt valve covers.
I ran a ABA test and found the
3447's and 3705's to et the same but the 3447 lost about a mile per hr
With the good converters I'm sure the 3705 is better
If your class racing you still would need the 3447

If your class racing you should call NHRA if you can't find fresh intake valves....see if they allow
a nail head valve ....they flow better than the tulip valve
Nail head vales were used on all "B" engines 2.08"
You will have to live with the
Gigantic exhaust valves which are too big

Good to see you on the forum Ron.
