63 Sport Fury Side Molding install

I finally got a full set of SS side molding for my Sport Fury. I know the ends have studs on them and then there are little metal spring clips that push into the holes down the side of the body. What I am not sure about is the flat piece that goes between the stainless trim pieces. Is that just held in place by the top and bottom piece or does it get glued with emblem adhesive, or some other method? Also, anyone know where I can get those spring clips? Thanks!

Look up Tom Race at RT Specialties for clips. Don't have a answer on the molding.Doubt it any glue was used from the factory.Just a guess.

Not able to find anything specific to a 63. Looking at alternatives does anyone see a reason this late model plastic clip wouldn't work? It fits in the channel and the body holes.

I dont think you will be able to get it tight. The head will push into the trim and leave it loose.

I could try to flatten the head so it’s more like the original clips?

They seem to work but don’t “pull” the trim into the body as tight as the spring clips do.....

The trim was held on with plastic clips and the clips acted like spacers to keep the center trim in place. Also if I can remember there are little holes in some of this trim for small screws that also hold it into place.

On a 64 the plastic clips that hold trim are held in with a plastic pin that tightens the clip in the holes in the side panels and doors. Each clip also has a thin part that is between the paint and trim so it will not rub on paint.
