I have yet to verify a source to wire my car. Since I'm doing a total resto mod I don't want to use anything on the car that doesn't look new, therefore the rats nest looking original wiring harnesses must be replaced. I see 65 and up off the shelf harnesses but wonder how that would work. Has anyone with a 62, 63, or 64 purchased a replacement harness? If so where? Fury on dollies.jpgFury Painted Turn Signal.jpg
 
I bought a universal Harness from Hot Rod Wires in Garland, TX. If you're not afraid of wiring, it's a decent harness for a great price. Customer service was great. I called, hoping to leave a message on a Sunday evening with a question. The owner actually picked up the phone and gave me the info I needed. The only tip I have is to order more circuits than you think you'll need.
You can get universal harnesses from many sources, including Painless and Ron Francis, that have a few bells and whistles and cost a LOT more but this one worked well for me. Modern fuses, relays and no more bulkhead connector. Directions were very good as well.

My car is a 62 Dodge Dart got a thread going on this board "62 Dart painted". The wiring that Bill did was a copy of my original harnesses with all new connectors and wires. He did everything for my car except the under dash wiring that he does not do. Total turn around time was 3 weeks or so
 
I've used Ron Francis, Haywire, and It's a Snap in the past and Ron Francis was probably the only one I wouldn't use again. Not because it wasn't a good harness, but because he uses a proprietary black box that only he can fix. The rest use a simple fuse box with no cosmic wiz bang stuff inside.

You'll find several good wiring kits out there and they will all work well. The main thins to consider are the fuse box (number of circuits), wire labeling, and interface connectors. Always purchase a kit that has more circuits than you think you need. There is always something that comes up later that will need its own circuit and the difference in price is negligible. Wires should be labeled a minimum of once every foot and the kit should contain the correct connectors for your steering column and any other Mopar specific connections you may need. Most kits come with GM connectors but most do have Mopar stuff available if you ask, ....so ask. Also you'll want a good set of directions, especially if you have never wired a car before.

Wiring isn't for everyone but if you take your time, solder connections and keep things organized you can save yourself a lot of money. Of the three brands I've used, I would recommend the Haywire kit. It will meet all your needs and then some.
