I've a '64 Polara and put a 1976 440 motor home engine in. The 440 came with the stock thermoquad carb and spread bore intake which I want to use just to get car up and running. I think I am going to have kickdown linkage issues now - not mating to carb. What to do? I've seen edelbrock has adapters and linkage extensions but adapter will give hieght, then hood clearance is an issue! Expense of new carb/intake is not an option at this time since I just want to see if this car will even run!!! Hood is off now and I'll sort things out after it runs. Thermoquad carb did work fine on motor home so perhaps it is OK. I realize there are other choices. Anyone confronted this situation and could give linkage extension advice or part numbers for what will work! Thanks.

The Thermoquad shouldn't need an adapter but you'll need to find a kickdown setup from a pass car big block setup. I don't know if the motorhome stuff will work but might just do the trick with some modifications. Depending on what the car had in it to begin with you may need a longer throttle cable. Slant 6 cables work just fine.
