I have a 64 Polara hardtop coupe with a burnt out electrical connection at the bulkhead connector on the firewall. It must be a common issue, the heavier guage positve wire from the alternator has crapped out and melted the bulkhead connector. I have temporarily fixed the issue but need to source another electrical bulkhead fitting. The two plug in connectors in the engine bay side are fine, it's the larger fitting with the female connections coming from the dash wiring that's the problem. I believe 64 & 65 bulkhead connectors are the same. Any idea where I could source one from?

Chris.

You could find a "donor" car to get one off of...

I think '64 on back used the same ones. '65 and up are different.

I'll keep my eye out when I am looking for '62 parts :)

I agree- the donor vehicle is the way to go to get that bulkhead. It is not a reproduced part. Year One has an exclusive agreement to manufacture harnesses for mopars. I tried without success to get some harness connectors from Year One. They don't do that.

However there are some wiring restoration companies that have stockpiled some parts.

Try contacting JoeMopar on this forum. He was having a dash harness built or restored by a specialist somewhere.

Does it need to stay OEM style??It is very common for the stock AMP gauge to fail, melting the block and burn the wire harness and the hot wire going in & out of column.Do you use any aftermarket gauges?A common cheapo fix is to bypass the block.I have also seen guys just drill out the melted hole and just run wire right through the bulkhead connector:edgy:

Don't waste your time with 'Year One GM part peddlers', they just buy the product from someone who produces a product at a non-inflated price, put them in they're catalog, then triple the price (or more) of the product for you to buy (aren't you sick and tired of that?). Do your home work guys. If you see a product in a 'fat kat' catalog, remember there's a guy out there working hard, usually willing to sell you his product at the same price the 'Fat Kats' buy it for. Don't let the 'fat kats' screw you out of your hard earned money! Where was I, all yeah, - get in touch with this guy, Bill Evans. If you've seen a mopar wiring harness in a catalog somewhere, chances are he's the one who produced it and all parts pertaining to it! But no dash harness's. Very nice guy, and willing to help a mopar guy out. He is 'the man' who reproduces the mopar harness's for most '62 and up Mopars (no middle man 'fat kats'). Talk to him, i'm sure he has what you need. He attends most of the Mopar shows/swaps also. Hope this helps you and 10,000 other mopar restorers, and mopar collectors out.

I am with CUDACOLLINS with that:yes:If you have some modern electronics that draw some power,I think they can cusomize the harmess for you.Electric fuel pumps and fans, stereo amps, aftermarket ignitions etc all exceed what OEM wire can handle:grin:

I agree with the above regarding Year One, BUT, there are some products that they have an exclusive with such as the original equipment type wiring harnesses. They have the absolute BEST if you need OEM type and you CAN'T buy it anywhere else.

You may be right about the dash harness's ($650.00-$800.00) and a couple of other things they have, but that's never happened to me, and hopefully never will. There's lots of dealers out there besides Year One that has oem type stuff. I've just never needed anything that Year One was the only - Fat Kat that had it when I needed it (thank God)!! I work to hard for MY MONEY and don't want to pay for inflated overpriced items, especially when I can get them somewhere else for less. I'm sure there may be some trinket things here and there they may have, but for the price they ask , they rape ya, ridiculous ! ! You gotta want it awful bad to buy from them with they're pricing, that's all I'm saying. Hopefully that never happens to anyone on this site that needs something so bad they would have to buy it from Year one. They're not the only ones either. Like I said before, MOST of they're stuff, is available somewhere else for a lot less. Shop around, and do your homework. Patronize the guys that are out there caring enough to produce these items we need , and working hard to manufacture these items for us. NOT THE PFAT KATS THAT WANT TO GET RICH OFF OF YOU AND ME, FOR DOING NOTHING BUT PUTTING A CATALOG TOGETHER:gah: AND DON'T LIFT A FINGER TO HELP/OR CARE FOR ANYONE EXCEPT FOR YOUR WALLET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:gah: Anyway, call Evans, he'll help ya out, and his harness' look identical to OEM stuff, and he can custom make almost anything you would want, or send him your harness, and he can add, subtract, or modify your OEM harness....

The above statement backs up what was stated earlier, they (year one) doesn't really care...and of course they're not going to tell you whos manufactoring these dash harness' because you could most likely go buy them for about 60% less (or more) than year one wants to sell it to you for!!!! All Yeah, Year One DOESN"T manufacture ANYTHING that I'm aware of.:th_krazy::frustrated:........:th_krazy:

For such a big company, Year One's website is absolute crap.

You're right cudacollins.YearOne sold me a gas tank with welded vent tube, too short!Called asked if they sold longer hose as the new hose they was too short.Thought was stock replacement tank?Original vent tube slides in out."We never heard that or had any complaints.Yours can't be original 1966."So much knowing Mopars.
