I finally got my laptop fixed and so now pics will be much better.

I'm doing a Super Stock conversion for fbbo member 2059 and he also sent me these bezels. Being that they are 50 yrs. old, I was skeptical that I could "bring them back to life" so to speak. So I spent some quality time with the buffer and this is what came of that. I also repainted the black and put a clear coat on. So check out the before and after pics, enjoy......

OUTSTANDING!!! Those are stunning!! 50 year old plating on pot metal. sure they came from the desert; but still. Awesome!! Look forward to installing along with the grill; along with the other upgrades. Not an overstatement to say; art, is the hand of the master.

I can't say enough. I am honored to have Zack's craftsmanship as part of this build.

I'm sure there are others out there that can get similar results however; this man has earned my/our business as; a contributing member of this thread, the restoration of '62-'65's, a Gulf War Patriot and, a genuine Good Guy!

Zack, Thanks for your help.

It looks awesome. When I did my grill and bezels on my 63 I had to strip the anodizing and sand/polish the aluminum. I keep it up with Flitz metal polish when it doesn't look as shiny as it should be. I do my share of painting so I considered using a 2K clear coat over the aluminum but I was concerned with it possibly peeling after a while. Did you use any special prep on this metal?

Just the usual strip, weld, grind, sand, sand some more, polish, polish again, and paint, then strip the paint off cause it looked like sh!t, do it again 3 more times before I was satisfied, clear the paint and call it good. I don't put any clear on the aluminum as I to am concerned that it may yellow or peel. I've had my grille done now for 5-6 years and have repolished twice.

I'm always sweating bullets when I send grilles, bezels, or trim back to you guys cause I want YOU to be satisfied with the end result.

2059, thanks for the compliment, and kind words. I was eager to try painting the backside of the grille, which turned out really good. I will make that a standard on those grilles. Thanks again for letting me be apart of your build.
