Some of you already know this car from the "Welcome" board. This is my very rusty 64 Fury vert. It came from NJ and it must have been near the coast as it's pretty rusty. I paid too much for it because I didn't go see it before I bought it. Oh dopey me. I started taking it a part and got sidetracked on another project. it was put in my storage building until I could get back to it. In the meantime along comes the flood of Sept. 2011 and the car ended up completely under water. Fast forward to today. The car and all the parts I had inside have been pressure washed and the engine and trans have been pulled for dissassembly and cleaning. I won't be able to proceed any further as between the flood and a very sick Golden Retriever, my budget is wiped out. (Those of you who say it was just a dog, please hold you comments) I have some plans and ideas I'd like to share and get some feedback on. I also will be working on gathering parts and doing some sub assembly work as I can. So with the basic intro above you have an idea where I stand. Here is what I want to do. I want the car to appear stock, body wise and also use the original engine and trans with some mods. it is a 318 poly with push button trans. I have a factory 2x4 setup from a 57 fury that I plan on using along with some TTI headers. I want to change out the tapered axle 8 3/4 for the 65-70 B body unit. I would like to modify the suspension and steering so the car handles well and gives a decent ride. Eventually I will convert to four wheel disc brakes. I don't want to race vettes and vipers and beat them, but would like to keep up for a minuter or two. lol. I don't want any kind of roll bar or cage, but I will install sub frame connectors. I will be doing all the work myself and fabricating everything I am able. Now for some dirty car ****. Those of you with weak constitutions may want to leave the theater:jerk:

Even more pics

This is the last of the pics for now showing the flood and the last one showing the Golden I lost. Jake was one of three I have and he was by far my favorite. He was so laid back and happy all the time. His presence lit up the whole house. After a 8 month battle with the big "C" it was time for time to cross the bridge. He was happy and pain free til the end. You will be truly missed my dear friend.

As they say, nothing a little body work can't help!
I want to pick up an old Mopar Convertible some day, the idea of a complete top-down experience sounds plenty fun to me.

Good luck with the project, and sorry to hear about your Golden. The big "C" has taken one dog, one grandfather (my best friend), and one good friend's dog from me, it most certainly does suck.

Yes, the big C has taken much more from me as well. Hopefully the cure will come soon. As for the vert, it's cherry compared to some cars being restored on here. I was fortunate to find good usable oem sheet metal from some doner cars. Got some mint fenders and my inner fenders aren't bad at all. Frame rails are solid except a small spot on one of the rear ones. Should be a blast to drive once done. I'm thinking red interior and some sort of silver or gun metal gray for the outside. Tired of red, black or white 64 furys. That decision is a loooooong way off.

Very minor update.

I'm still doing flood clean up in my shop. As part of that I drug the fury in to clean it and pull the engine and trans. I pulled the intake and heads to dry it out and oil things up. This is what I found. Full of acorns and other stuff and some thing white and fuzzy growing in there. lol. Never seen anything like it before, and I've taken apart a lot of engines.

TY for the condolences for my boy Jake, I still miss him a lot. Barnacles you say? Was hoping they were oysters, maybe find a pearl to finance the resto. lol. I still have to pull the pan, but I'm hesitant, afraid of what may be living in there.

I know how you feel on both counts! The lost of a pet is tuff especially if they are a "family member" My 64 Max Wedge went under water 6ft.to be exact,The flood of 1993,lost everything else too!getting close to finishing the resto.on it though.Good Luck on yours.I have a 64 S.F.convert I've had for 26 yrs. now it's fun!
