Last night on Overhaulin... For some old dude that helps everyone else all the time, now he doesn't have the money to do his own 64 Fury, blah blah blah... They did a nice 64 Fury using the original #'s matching but reworked 383ci 4bbl 4 speed, nice one off custom 60's style Halibrand type looken', Foose billet wheels, nice champagne/gold & white top paint, with the "original" burgundy colored interior, but kept it pretty stock appearing, redid all the original trim pieces, grill dash etc., typical body & rust repairs etc., {color changed from a repainted ugly *** brown over an original turquoise paint} just a few subtle tasteful touches, nothing too elaborate, the car looked great when done, it was a good episode.... I know a bunch of you guys, don't care for Foose & his creations, but this was a nice car IMHFO anyway....

I was ready to cringe, expecting it to turn out like the other cars on that show. But he showed taste and restraint. The color was really nice and I like that they respected that it still had it's numbers-matching big-block and didn't just throw it away and put in a crate motor like these shows tend to do.

The only thing I didn't like was the big diameter wheels, I don't like anything bigger than 15" diameter on '60s cars but maybe that's just me.

67 Satty: I agree. The giant wheels and lowered cars are not my cup of tea. I liked the color. I wonder what they did to the 383 to pump it up

So, a bunch of car buddys call me and say..."Sonny foose is over-doing a car like yours" (i got a '63 belvedere) I watched and it was fun, BUT I would have like him to redo as stock & original as possible, being within the limits. So ...it was ok....
Put it this way: if were my '64 Fury and it was done'over by foo$e "I'd take it!":icon_wink:

was not the engine color wrong ...should be--->(Turquoise )

Chatsworth did Comp camshaft, lifters, push-rods & rockers, installed flat-top KB pistons & did all the necessary machine work, pretty mild, but a nice build, dyno-ed it too 330hp 430tq or something like that, they also said it would be better with the smaller carb maybe 350hp...

I'm not a big fan of overly large rims either, especially over 17"-18" but the ones he did for the 64 Fury 18"s front & 20"s rear, to fit over the big Baer Disc brakes, it looked pretty damn good to me, not way out of proportion, like most of the larger diameter wheel do... that's Just me

It's not a restoration build show, it's a custom build... yes the engine should have been turquoise

Hey thanks for the info. I was wondering what they did to the motor. Now that I've got you on the phone, I've got a question. I have a 68 Barracuda (yeah, I'm on FABO too) that is UU1 blue that I'm going to have repainted in Q5 Seafoam turquoise. I don't care for that light blue but always liked the turquoise. A 360 will eventually go in place of the slant six. I was thinking about going with a turquoise for the motor, valve covers, etc. but know that is a big block color. What other color do you think would look good on he 360 if not turquoise. I don't care about stock, this will be custom.

Inspector71,
I'm going to jump in and add my $.02. I say if you are going custom, paint it the same color as the car. With some polished accents, it will really give it a 'clean' look.

The wheels & orange decal on the stainless trim did nothing for me, otherwise it looked pretty nice.

Yeah I didn't care for the orange vinyl decal in the side molding either, if they wanted it, they should have been painted at the minimum...

Pretty Nice Car! Notice They Had To Reuse All The Chrome! That Sounds Familiar! Why Can't We Get '62-'65 Parts Repopped Like The '66-'69's??

yes, I agree .........I also think I hate the orange in the side strip (on '64)...also the Red, White & Blue was missing.

I was scared what they were gonna do with that one, too.

Saw the preview, but didn't catch the episode.

On a related note- who's the chick in the generic promo- with the tan lines?

She doesn't look like the one that's on the show.

She's the one where one of the guys has his arm around her, and when he raises it up to cheer, he pulls her hair and almost knocks her over.

so has overhaul'n restarted as a show again?hope they changed some things from the way it was.they really turned out some crap rides before.my buddie mat's car was the last one they did on the show.he went through a 1 1/2 year nightmare to get the car finished.(all it did was start at the end of the show.)

Being as I own a 64, I thought all things considered(big wheels, two tone Seems required) I think they did well. They spent the whole show bitchin' about parts availability, and how they needed to be careful with all the trim. Maybe some manufacturer will listen. Sonny Black, wasn't the red white and blue only on the Sport Fury?

How does one know it's a #matching engine?

How does one know it's a #matching engine?

I would guess they checked the block casting & stamped ID #'s, it also had the 4 bolt valve covers that the earlier BB 383ci engines had, instead of the 6 bolt newer style valve covers, it also had the cast iron cased 4 speed of earlier vintage... I didn't see what they did to ID them, just my speculation & what they had said on the show, "it was an original #'s matching combo/car"...

Jessie Combs the little blonde maybe, I'm not sure what promo your referring to... if it is, she took the place of AJ

Dako: Your opinion is worth a lot more than two cents as you might be right. It would be easier to keep it the same. There is no rust and only a little work needed on the drivers side fender (pushed in by a tow company but should pop out). I am going back and forth on this so I appreciate your opinion.
