Wow-You have some work to do to replace those bushings!! Alright-here's how I've done it on my 63. 1) make sure you have jackstands under the subframe on both sides. 2) Unwind the torsion bar tension to the point where the small metal blocks inside the LCA rattles around. 3) disconnect the shock absorber from the LCA and push it up out of the way 4) take any splash shields off for more room to work. 5) remove the snap ring from the rear of the torsion bar anchor and then pull the torsion bar rubber seal forward about 3". 6) loosen the 15/16" nut holding the LCA on the K-member and back it off 7) Now tap with a plastic mallet on the end of that LCA shaft until it breaks loose from the K-frame. Use liquid wrench and you may have to wac it pretty good. 8) Pry with a bar between the LCA and the K-frame pushing the LCA rearward to allow removal of the strut rod from LCA. 9) R&R the bushings and reverse this process. 10) Make sure the big washers are cupped away from the Bushings if no one-piece sleeve is supplied. If a sleeve is supplied (not sure on a 64) then position front washer towards the bushing and the rear washer should be cupped away from the Bushing. 11) Make sure when pushing the torsion bar back in place that you use a brass punch to tap it forward enough to reinstall the snap ring. Put the rubber seal back on the anchor and there should be plenty of grease in there.

Anyway............That's how I've done it. Hope this helps you out.

You have to remove the lower control arm also. Not too big of a job, but starts a bigger replacement list. My .2 cents worth.

What he said! I ended up replacing EVERYTHING on my front suspension once I got to "just replacing a couple of things...". You have been warned,but...having all new components makes me feel a LOT more secure when driving.

Good luck,be careful;you've got good advice.
