I have a 64 plymouth savoy race hemi recreation. I need to get some traction under it. Should I get 8" wheels or will 10" wheels fit without modification from stock? If 10" then I am looking at MT 295/60/15. I see others use the 275 size. I want to go big without causing any issues.

Or would 8" with 275/60/15 MT drag radials be a good choice?

Any input will be appreciated.

My 62 Savoy is mini tubbed, I run 295/50/15 on 10'' rims.

My buddy has mini tubs with 315/60-15 on his 64 Savoy.

For stock wheel tubs we ran the 275/60/15's with a 7'' wheel that has a 4 1/4'' backspace. No rubbing anywhere.Usually you will find that a 8'' wheel will have a standard backspace of 4 1/2''.The 8'' may be close to the springs. Most of the time, depends on how high the car sits you may have the tire rub on the outer wheel house. Just a thought.

I run 15x8, 4.5" Backspace 275/60 BF Goodrich on the rear. SS Springs with 62-65 B Body front spring hangers and there's room for more.

Thanks. I do have SS springs but don't know what difference it makes. I think I will go with the 8 inch with 275/60's

Good choice with the 275's. They're taller (approx 28") and will fill up your wheel opening nicely.

64Sportfury: How about posting some more pictures of your beautiful car? I really like it!

Thank you coloradodave. So as not to hijack this thread I will post pics under a new one.
