I have a 64 sport fury with a 383 4 speed. Unfortunately I bought it with a cracked block that I just found out about. I have sourced out a rebuilt 383 for it and also a 440. If I went with the 440 do you think it would affect the value and what's your opinions on the 383 vs the 440. Thanks.

More cubes = more torque = more fun. Value of car?! I wouldn't worry. Keep old engine aside if numbers are important to next owner...

The 440 will affect the value a lot less than the broken 383 would. It sounds like a fun ride, and it'll be more fun with more torque.

The beauty of a pre- 1968.5 car is that there are thousands of "correct" engine blocks.

Not nearly the value issue of a post 1968.5 car.

I've had my 64 Sport Fury for 17 years. No one's ever asked if it was numbers matching. Do the 440. They are great engines. I love mine.

X2 on the 440. No one has asked me if my car was #'s matching either.
