Been through the mill on this one, so I'll ask from folks who know.

Getting ready to re-cover my seats, buckets and bench. Bought new covers from Legendary, years back, and had 'em installed by someone...who did it all wrong. Unfortunately, they also pulled the seats down. Cut the slips off the new covers, no pull down on the inserts.

So, I've pulled the covers, and completely restarting again. I've had new slips re-sewn onto the bucket covers. Get to the rear bench when I can.

My question is...what goes into the seat slips, to hold the inserts down? Is it rods, heavy wire, thin flat bars?

Are the "seat slips" you're refering to the cotton/cloth tubes on the bottom side of the seat cover that pull down into the foam bun to give the seat a "formed" look?

If so, the metal wires that go in the tubes and are hog-ringed down to the seat frame are called "listing wires". If your listing wires are completely missing, you can make new ones out of stainless steel TIG welding rod. Use a rod approx. 1/8" diameter, cut to length, and then bend a tight little loop on each end so it doesn't poke into anything it shouldn't.

Thank you, Rick!

Yes, sir, exactly what I'm asking about, and the answer I'm looking for!

Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything, for making the seats right. Once they were finally available, bought new seat foam, for the buckets. Ready to assemble them, now...just need time for it.

Guessing I'll run into the same thing on the rear bench. Right now, the bench looks pretty poor, even with the new covers. Who put the covers on, supposily experianced, probably hacked off the slips on those, too.
