Back again-I'm trying to install a Saginaw power steering pump in a car that came with a Federal pump.Everything bolted uo nice except for the suction line.The Saginaw has a 3/8 fitting (tubing)where the Federal had a .700 dia. exiting the pump.The steering box has a .700 fitting.Does anyone know how to work around this problem or where can I buy a hose that will work.The last resort would be to pot the Federal pump back on and admitting I screwed uo again.Thanks

If you go to pretty much any truck parts supplier they will do or know who does hydraulic hoses. They can make you a hose with whatever ends you want for not much money. Good luck.

That's good advice by Colorado Dave. No worries; it's an easy fix. Another source of for custom hydraulic hoses & fittings is any agricultural dealer ie.. a John deere Dealer.

Where your suction hose goes into the steering box, that little valve body should have 2 bolts holding it on, swap it out with the right size from another steering box. It helps to have 5 or 6 extra steering boxes laying around like I do.

Powersteering return hose

Thanks guys-Tractor supply places only make hoses with crimped on ends because the wire in the hoses prevents the use of a clamp.However I learned that a tractor truck supplier called Fleet Pride should be able to make me a hose.If not changing the valve to get a 3/8 return port sounds good-do you think a 66 and up model would have a valve to bolt onto a 64 steering box?
