a friend has a 65 belvidere wagon. It has a 440 with a 727 trans. He is having problems with keeping the cables adjusted. When we adjust them the trans works fine for a little while then acts like there is no reverse. It also will not start in park or neutral. He has taken it to several trans people, they have yet solved the problem. Any Ideas?

exactly is the adjusting proceedure for the cables ? Should they be adjusted in low or neutral?

Best way to adjust is with the pan off. Line up the neutral pin of the rooster comb with the neutral safety switch. Beware there are 2 different length neutral switches. The longer one will hang up on the rooster comb in neutral. There are also 2 types of cable retainers on the valve body. Using the wrong one can cause play between the cable and the valve body. These cables will not stretch. The are very sturdy.
