Hi guys,

i need some advice
I´m going to replace my old Leaf Springs with new ones.
Tire Size in the back should be a 275/60/15 on 8" Steel.
Should i go 1" or 2" overstock?
Does anybody have pictures were i can see how it looks with 1" overstock and 275 on the rear?
Thanks

Peter

Peter, This is the look with super stock springs (from Mancini Racing) with 275-60-15's on 7" Cop Car wheels widened (by Weldcraft) to 8" with the stock backspacing...the extra inch is on the outside to produce a deeper "dished" effect.

Thanks, but what i meant was 1" overstock on the leaf springs.
Are other Spring Hangers required for the SS Springs?

Thanks
Peter

Peter, when you say 1" overstock, do you mean getting the springs with 1" of additional arch in them compared to stock springs?

I ordered new heavy duty springs for my '64 Belvedere, not SS springs. They had 6 leaves on each side (I think station wagons may have used 6 leaves) plus I had them built with 2" of additional arch. This put the rear end up as high as the air shocks that I had been running in the fully extended position. If you like the rear end jacked up high, this is one way to do it. I got mine from St. Louis Spring Co., but I'm sure that any supplier that manufactures new springs could do it that way.

I think 2" are to high. I guess i take the 1" over with 6 leaves.

Thanks again
Peter

You're probably right to go with the 1" extra arch. The measurement from the ground to the wheelwell through the center of the hub was 26.5" on my Belvedere.
